Job Summary:
Owl has an immediate need for a Sales Engineer to join our Sales team. The Sales Engineer being a subject matter expert in Industrial Controls and Operational Technology, will maintain a professional rapport with customers and endeavor to give them the best possible service while bridging the gap between Owl sales, sales partners, and product teams, to provide effective solutions to customer security needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users
Primary technical resource for the Sales Team and Owl’s global distributor and reseller partners
Actively drive and manage technology of the evaluation stage of sales process
Work as a key technical advisor to advocate our products
Comprehensive understanding of customer’s security system architecture
Able to identify all technical issues to assure the Sales team and Owl partners are proposing the best solution for our customers
Establish and maintain strong relationships with the customer’s technical personnel throughout the sales cycle
Support the initial installation of products and services
Manage continuous customer relationships to obtain product improvement ideas and share information with the R&D team
Requirements/Qualifications:
Education
B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred
Experience
4 to 6 years of relevant experience supporting high technology engineering as a Sales Engineer
Must have had previous hands-on experience with programming and/or scripting in a technical role (~5 years)
Experience and familiarity with products similar to the Owl’s lines of business is desired
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Candidate should have experience and full understanding of IC applications utilizing OPC DA, OPC UA, Modbus, Aveva PI System, Historian replication, MQTT, AMQP, FT, SFTP/FTP, Syslog, SNMP, SMTP, time synchronization, SQL/MSQL and other industrial protocols
Must be self-motivated with a proven track record in supporting high technology hardware and software sales.
Able to develop and deliver product demonstrations
Must have strong analytical, presentation and organizational skills
Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
Able to quickly obtain the relevant information to understand and explain the customer’s security system architecture
Able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
Must have high-touch communications skills
Able to listen to potential clients' needs and to explain how the company’s product can satisfy those needs
Able to convey customer requirements to Owl’s sales team, engineers, and research and development departments to devise new ways of meeting customer requirements for use of the company’s products
Proactive outreach with customers to ensure their needs have been met and to assist with any additional problems that may arise after purchase
Able to demonstrate in extensive, technical detail how the company’s products are different than that of the competition
Following a sale, the Sales Engineer provides any technical support the customer may need for installing and operating the products or solutions
Able to provide training for the customer employees who will use the product or solution
Sales engineer is in constant contact with customers with the objective to obtain a good idea of the improvements customers would like to see in the company’s products and bring this information to the research and development team
Sales Engineer works to bring the company products and solutions in line with customer expectations
Must be self-motivated with a proven track record in supporting high technology hardware and software sales.
Must be comfortable in a small, high growth company requiring independent initiative and careful thought to customer’s needs.
Demonstrate a high level of commitment to staying current with relevant changes in technology
Additional Competencies/Requirements
Must be available for 30-40% travel, for pre-sales customer and partner meetings
Domestic and International travel is expected.
9-12 weeks per year likely to be spent in the middle east region, e.g. quarterly trips for 3-4 weeks each trip.
Additional US travel not likely to exceed an additional 6-8 weeks
Must be able to obtain/maintain a US Government security clearance
