Job Summary:

The Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement Engineer plays a key role in optimizing and standardizing internal processes to ensure efficiency, compliance, and sustained quality. This individual will collaborate across departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives, lead root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of defects and nonconformities. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on quality professional with a strong background in systems thinking, process improvement, and cross-functional teamwork. They must be equally effective working independently and within collaborative teams to uphold and enhance quality standards across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, enhance, and standardize key business and engineering processes.
  • Define and document scalable engineering development and management processes in partnership with engineering and project management teams.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and guidelines.
  • Lead process mapping and analysis sessions to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Establish and monitor process performance metrics to evaluate efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Support readiness for regulatory audits and quality system assessments.
  • Contribute to achieving and maintaining certifications such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support quality and operational excellence.

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Education
    • BS Degree in business management, computer science, related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience
    • Experience working with continuous improvement and lean methodology practices.
    • Experience working within an AS9100D, ISO9001, or other regulated environments.
    • Experience with Windows Operating system and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Experience working in the development of software/firmware strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Solid understanding of quality management principles, continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma), and software/system development life cycles.
    • Proficiency in data analysis, process metrics, and the use of statistical tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab, or similar).
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions.
    • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills to lead or support process improvement initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Additional Competencies/Requirements
    • Applicants must be willing and able to obtain a US Government security clearance (An active clearance is preferred)
    • This position can support remote candidates in Eastern or Central time zones.
