Job Summary:
Owl Cyber Defense is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Sales Engineer to support our growing Sales team in delivering high-assurance cybersecurity solutions to mission-critical environments. In this key role, you will serve as the technical bridge between customers, business development, and engineering—guiding solution design, presenting product capabilities, and ensuring successful implementations. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in cybersecurity or Cross Domain Solutions, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of secure system architectures. This role will primarily support customers within the Intelligence Community (IC) and other mission-critical federal environments. Experience supporting classified networks, high-assurance systems, and government mission partners is highly valued. Candidates with prior experience supporting IC customers and an active TS/SCI clearance are strongly preferred. Preferred location is the Washington, DC metro area.
The ideal candidate is a mission driven Sales Engineer with experience supporting Intelligence Community or classified federal customers. You bring a strong background in secure systems architecture, cross domain solutions, or high assurance cybersecurity platforms and are comfortable engaging directly with mission owners, integrators, and prime contractors. You thrive in a fast-moving environment and enjoy influencing both customer success and product direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for the Sales organization
  • Articulate product positioning and value to both technical and business stakeholders
  • Lead technical discovery, architecture design, and solution validation
  • Support customer evaluations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept efforts
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales lifecycle
  • Maintain a deep understanding of customer security architectures and mission requirements
  • Support initial installation and technical onboarding of solutions
  • Provide ongoing technical guidance and training to customer teams
  • Engage with system integrators, prime contractors, and mission partners to support complex federal programs and classified deployments
  • Maintain continuous customer relationships to gather product feedback and improvement ideas
  • Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to influence roadmap and solution design
  • Support RFIs, RFPs, and technical proposal responses

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Education
    • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred
 
  • Experience
    • 8 to 10 years of relevant cybersecurity experience supporting cybersecurity products or Cross Domain Solutions
    • Must have had previous hands-on experience with programming and/or scripting in a technical role (2+ years)
 
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    • Experience and familiarity with products similar to the company’s lines of business is desired
    • Responsible for development and delivery of product demonstrations
    • Responsible for representing the product or solution to customers and at field events such as trade shows, conferences, seminars, etc.
    • Must have strong analytical, presentation and organizational skills
    • Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
    • Able to quickly obtain the relevant information to understand and explain the customer’s security system architecture
    • Able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
    • Able to convey customer requirements to Sales team
    • Able to convey customer requirements to the company's engineering and research and development departments to devise new ways of meeting customer requirements for use of the company’s products
    • Able to listen to potential clients' needs and to explain how the company’s product can satisfy those needs
    • Able to demonstrate in extensive, technical detail how the company’s products are different than that of the competition
    • Following a sale, the Sales Engineer provides any technical support the customer may need for installing and operating the products or solutions
    • Able to provide training for the customer staff who will use the product or solution
    • Able to take the initiative to maintain contact with the customer to ensure that the customer’s needs have been met and to assist them with any additional problems that may arise well after the purchase
    • Sales Engineer is in constant contact with customers with the objective to obtain a good idea of the improvements customers would like to see in the company’s products and bring this information to the research and development team
    • Sales Engineer works to bring the company products and solutions in line with customer expectations
    • Must be self-motivated with a proven track record in supporting high technology hardware and software sales
    • Must be comfortable in a small, high growth company requiring independent initiative and careful thought to customer’s needs.
    • Demonstrate a high level of commitment to staying current with relevant changes in technology
 
  • Additional Competencies/Requirements
    • Must hold at least an active Secret US Government security clearance and be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret SCI clearance
    • Active TS/SCI clearance is a strong plus
    • Experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC) customers or classified mission environments is highly preferred
    • Must be available for at least 50% travel for pre-sales meetings, conferences and trade shows
    • Preferred location is Washington, DC metro area. Candidates must be willing to travel regularly to customer sites within the National Capital Region
    • Domestic and International travel is expected
