Job Summary:
Owl Cyber Defense is seeking a capable and motivated Linux Support Engineer to support, troubleshoot, and sustain secure network solutions for mission-critical government environments. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in Linux systems, networking, and technical diagnostics to resolve support tickets, assist with system configurations, and maintain operational performance across diverse customer environments. You’ll also have opportunities to deepen your knowledge of Linux security and Owl’s advanced cybersecurity products. This hands-on role includes occasional travel for system deployments, participation in a 24/7 support rotation, and collaboration with internal engineering and services teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve customer-reported issues across Owl’s cybersecurity product suite, including documentation and ticket management.
Configure, test, and maintain systems in both customer environments and Owl’s internal lab; replicate issues and support product updates as needed.
Travel occasionally (CONUS and OCONUS) to install, deploy, or upgrade Owl systems at customer sites.
Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule to support urgent technical needs.
Collaborate with internal teams to share field insights, improve product performance, and support cross-functional initiatives.
Continuously deepen expertise in Linux security, networking, and Owl’s secure data transfer technologies.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the team’s goals and customer success.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is highly desired.
Experience
2-4 years in a technical role in the technology market focused on customer and technical support
Strong Linux (RHEL) Fundamentals required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Technical:
Proficient in Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Windows environments
Knowledge of TCP and UDP networking
Demonstrate a general understanding of various IT concepts
(e.g. Compute, Storage, Networking, Database)
Cisco IOS
Security+ (desired)
CCNA-Collaboration (desired)
Soft skills:
Experience leading presentations, public speaking, or classroom
training in related technology
Proven presentation and people skills that enable you to deliver
engaging and effective in person and online training.
Strong desire to succeed
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Multi-tasking, organization, and time management skills
Positive attitude and good team player
Candidates must be able to obtain/maintain a US Government security clearance (Those with an active TS/SCI clearance are preferred)
