Job Summary
We are seeking a Sr. IT Solutions Engineer with a passion for delivering impactful technology solutions through collaboration, innovation, and deep technical expertise. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of end-to-end IT solutions that support strategic business objectives. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across departments to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient systems are in place.
This position is based in Owl’s Columbia, MD HQ office and requires office hours Monday-Friday with occasional opportunity to WFH.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead solution ideation, technical design, and implementation of complex IT solutions across multiple platforms
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and business stakeholders to align solutions with strategic IT goals and roadmaps
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements, ensuring scalability, sustainability, and cost-efficiency
  • Create, maintain, and communicate comprehensive technical documentation for all implemented systems, configurations, processes, and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to IT standards, policies, and compliance frameworks such as CMMC and NIST 800-171
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, system upgrades, and integration strategies to enhance overall IT performance and business value
  • Support enterprise architecture strategy and guide architectural standards across all application projects
  • Reduce reactive work by engineering proactive and automated solutions where possible
  • Perform risk assessments and provide recommendations for security protection technologies
  • Provide Tier 1–2 support as needed, mentoring junior staff and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement
Core Duties
  • Manage and maintain Office 365 suite, including Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive
  • Administer and troubleshoot Office desktop applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Perform user and group account administration using Active Directory and Azure AD
  • Collaborate with vendors for technical support, solution implementation, and system issue resolution
  • Ensure full compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks, including CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) and NIST SP 800-171 requirements
  • Implement and monitor security controls, system hardening, and documentation required to support assessment readiness and ongoing compliance
  • Manage Linux systems at the enterprise level to meet security baselines, patching requirements, access controls, and auditing needs in alignment with CMMC and NIST 800-171
  • Produce and maintain clear, detailed documentation for IT systems, processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and troubleshooting guides
Qualifications
  • Education
    • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience
    • 10–12 years of experience in IT engineering, systems architecture, or enterprise IT management
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Proven ability to lead complex IT projects and communicate technical concepts to business audiences
    • Deep knowledge of federal compliance frameworks, including CMMC and NIST 800-171
    • Expertise in secure network environments and Microsoft ecosystem
    • Hands-on experience managing Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS) in compliance-focused environments, including audit readiness and system hardening
    • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or similar
    • Demonstrated ability to author, organize, and maintain technical documentation for a broad range of IT systems and processes
    • Familiarity with configuration management, secure system baselining, and compliance validation processes
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
    • Demonstrated success in enterprise-level IT design, deployment, and support
    • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
    • Excellent written communication skills, especially in technical writing and documentation
    • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
    • Technically creative, open to innovation, and comfortable operating beyond the comfort zone
